Outdoor gas fire features are huge in Cape Cod — the climate practically demands a backyard you can use ten months of the year. Here's what we install, what holds up in New England's salt air, and what the install actually involves.
What we install outdoors
- Built-in outdoor gas fireplaces (Heat & Glo Twilight, Napoleon Galaxy)
- Custom outdoor fire pits with stainless burners
- Linear gas fire tables
- Tiki torches plumbed to your gas line
- Fire-and-water combo features
What survives New England coastal exposure
Anything within five miles of the coast in Cape Cod needs 316-grade stainless burners, not 304. Aluminum trim corrodes within two seasons. Powder-coated steel rusts. We default to 316 stainless and sealed electronics rated for outdoor exposure.
Permits and gas supply
Any new outdoor gas line needs a permit and inspection. If you're on natural gas, we run a dedicated line from your meter; on LP, we either tap an existing tank or set a new one. Burner BTU has to match the supply line size — undersizing the line is the most common DIY mistake we get called to fix.
Ballpark installed costs
- Drop-in fire pit kit: $1,800–$3,500
- Custom built-in fire pit: $4,500–$9,000
- Full outdoor fireplace: $9,000–$22,000+
